My children love going to the library, and we actually go more often now because of all the books for this blog. These are the picture books they picked this week, and all of them have been fun to read. Go see if you can find them at your local library!

🩰 Bunheads 2: The Dance of Courage – Misty Copeland
In this follow-up story, young dancers return to class and face new challenges that test their confidence. Through practice, encouragement, and courage, they learn that growth often comes from pushing past fear and believing in themselves. My daughter loves all things ballerina, and even at 10 she still enjoys looking through picture books like this.

🐶 Build Dogs Build – James Horvath
A group of hardworking dogs team up to construct a playground, each using their unique skills and tools. This fun, rhythmic story introduces teamwork, problem-solving, and the basics of construction in a way that’s engaging for young readers. This was my two-year-old’s pick, and we loved pointing out the objects and colors together.

🐘 Horton Hatches the Egg – Dr. Seuss
Horton the elephant agrees to sit on an egg for a careless bird and refuses to give up, no matter the challenges he faces. His loyalty and determination show the importance of keeping promises and doing what’s right, even when it’s difficult. My five-year-old picked this one, and it was a new Dr. Seuss book for all of us. I really appreciated the message about keeping your promises through actions, not just words.

🐭 Best Friends for Frances – Russell Hoban
Frances the badger navigates the ups and downs of friendship when she feels left out by her best friend, Thelma. Through everyday moments and honest emotions, the story gently explores jealousy, inclusion, and what it means to be a good friend. This was my eight-year-old son’s pick, and I think I was even more excited than the kids because A Bargain for Frances was one of my favorite reads when I was a child.
We all love reading new books! Go find you new read at your local library!
